2015 USAG REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
On March 21, 2015, level 8 gymnast, Danielle Skrocki, made Kippettes history as the first gymnast to have qualified for a USAG Regional Championship since the launch of the Kendrick all-around travel team program in 2005. Even more impressive, Danielle took the 5th place slot at the USAG Pennsylvania State Championship where she placed 1st on balance beam and 2nd on vault, bars, and all-around. Competing against more than 60 athletes at States, Danielle qualified as a member of the 2015 USAG Pennsylvania Team vying for a Region 7 Title on April 12 in Washington, D.C.
The Kippettes could not send Danielle alone – Levels 6-9 & Xcel went with her!!
The road trip to Washington was a magical event for everyone involved. Thank you to chaperones, Lori Lorenz and Karen Skrocki, and to assistant coach, Kathy Ciesielka, for managing “crowd control” as we navigated our crew of 15 through the Nation’s Capital.
Adults and gymnasts enjoyed the Cherry Blossom Parade, the carousel on the Mall, the National Monument (very windy!), the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum (we flew our own space shuttles!), and multiple gardens, monuments, and historical landmarks along the way.
On Sunday, April 12, Danielle took her very first Regional Championship competition in stride. As a gymnast representing the State of Pennsylvania, Danielle remained level-headed and hit every event with the best she had to offer.
Although she commented on receiving her lowest all-around score of the season at Regionals, Danielle is to be commended for her extraordinary level of self-confidence, sportsmanship, and pride as she competed among the top athletes across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. From a coach’s standpoint, Sunday represented Danielle’s most impressive meet of her 2014-2015 competitive season. We could not have asked for a better overall performance! To round out the weekend, Danielle took the podium as the 9th Place Region 7 Champion on the uneven bars while Pennsylvania grabbed a 3rd Place Regional Championship against a backdrop of eight competing teams.
